Sep 7, 2015- Paperclip Design has been selected as one of the 5 startups out of a total of 150 applicants to join the first season of Airbus Bizlab, a business accelerator for promising aerospace-related startups.
Bizlab will provide early-stage projects with mentoring & networking support to speed up transformation of ideas into credible businesses. Paperclip will focus on the Butterfly Flexible Seating Solution at Bizlab and will be stationed in Toulouse for 6 months.

Oct 17, 2014- The Butterfly Flexible Seating Solution won first place in the Passenger Innovation Awards, held alongside the World Passenger Symposium 2014 in San Diego.
The award, set up by International Air Transport Association, is an initiative that aims to ignite new ideas in the passenger world. More than 70 entries were received this year, with 3 finalists selected to present at the Symposium, where the professional jury panel and event attendees voted on the best idea during the closing plenary.

Oct 12, 2014- Paperclip Design’s convertible seat concept, previously referred to as Caterpillar, have had its name changed to “Butterfly”. The decision comes after accusation was received from Caterpillar Inc. for infringing on their trade mark.
Paperclip Design denies that the use of a common word in an unrelated industry amounts to passing off or infringement of the said registered trademark; but to facilitate an amicable resolution of the dispute, has nonetheless decided to use an alternative name for the concept on a without admission of liability basis.
Apr 8, 2014- The Butterfly Convertible Seating Concept won the trophy for "Premium Class & VIP" category at the Crystal Cabin Award, held alongside the Aircraft Interiors Expo in Hamburg.
The Crystal Cabin Award honours the best innovations in aircraft interiors and is the most highly regarded prize in this field.
This year’s competition received entries from 54 submissions from 12 nations, with winners in 7 categories selected by a judging panel of 24 international experts.
March 5, 2013- Paperclip Design's Checkerboard Convertible Seating System has been selected as a finalist in the Crystal Cabin Award.
The Checkerboard, a concept that allows easy conversion between business and economy class, will be competing in the category "Industrial Design & Visionary Concepts".
Crystal Cabin Award, the only international prize for innovations in aircraft cabins, will be held from 8-10 April alongside the Aircraft Interior Expo in Hamburg.

Nov 19, 2012- The Meerkat Seat Concept has been awarded a Silver in the professional category in the Spark:Concept 2012 competition.
The Spark Design Awards are a series of competitions that encourage and honor designs that make the world a better place. The Spark:Concept Awards are for work that is in the idea stage, and is open to any discipline of design.

July 28, 2012- The Meerkat Seat Concept received a Bronze award in the transportation category of the coveted 2012 International Design Excellence Awards (IDEA) program, a celebration of design excellence in industrial design.
Organized annually for 32 years by the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA), the IDEA program is considered one of the most preeminent design competitions in the U.S.A. and beyond.

Apr 28, 2012- The Meerkat Seat Concept received a Platinum at the A' Design Award & Competition.
The italian-based award is an annual international design competition that aims to highlight the excellent qualifications of best designs.
This year's competition received more than 3600 entries from 140 countires, with the prestigious Platinum award given to the top 1% percentile designs.

Apr 28, 2012- The Paperclip Armrest won a Silver A' Design Award in the "Unexpected Design" category of the competition.
The A' Design Award & Competition is an annual event that aims to highlight best designs around the world, within which the "Unexpected" award honours extraordinary design solutions to previously unaddressed problems.
Winning designs will be exhibited at the MOOD Museum of Design in Italy in June.

Feb 01, 2012- The Paperclip Armrest design concept is named as a finalist in the prestigious Spark Design and Architecture Concept Awards, which recognise excellence in design.
The awards honour designs that demonstrate outstanding creativity, craft and innovation with a mission of promoting better living. The awards are held annually and are open to designers all over the world.
Nov 2, 2011- The Paperclip Armrest design concept is officially issued patent number GB2455130, titled "Armrest for Multiple Seating", by the United Kingdom Intellectual Property Office.
This follows the granting of a patent in the USA in June 2011. Patents are currently pending in several other countries and regions, including the EU, Hong Kong, China, India and Brazil.
Jun 14, 2011- The Paperclip Armrest is officially issued utility patent number 7959231 by the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Titled "Armrest for Multiple Seating”, this is the first patent issued for the dual-user armrest design concept.
Patents are currently pending in several other countries and regions, including the USA, EU, Hong Kong, China, India and Brazil.
Dec 31, 2010- The Paperclip Armrest won a Good Design Award, chosen annually by The Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture & Design and The European Centre for Architecture Art Design & Urban Studies.
Founded in 1950, the Good Design Awards is one of the oldest and the most recognised programmes for design excellence worldwide.
The Paperclip Armrest is exhibited from 13-16 June 2011 at the annual Good Design Show at the Chicago Athenaeum.
Nov 25, 2010- The Paperclip Armrest received a prestigious “red dot” at the Red Dot Award: Design Concept in Singapore.
Dating back to 1955, the Red Dot Design Award is one of the world’s most distinguished and largest design competitions. The “Red Dot Award: Design Concept” centres on design concepts. In 2010, 3,023 projects from 55 countries are presented to the jury, with 180 selected to receive the red dot.
Winning products are displayed in a one-year exhibition at the red dot design museum Singapore.
Apr 1, 2009- The Paperclip Armrest clinched the judges’ commendation prize in the Crystal Cabin Award, awarded in Hamburg alongside Aircraft Interiors Expo.
The Crystal Cabin Award is the only international award for excellence in aircraft interior innovation. This year’s competition received entries from 51 companies, with six entries chosen to receive an award by the 20-strong panel of international judges. The other winners of the competition are B/E Aerospace, Boeing, Lufthansa Technik and Recaro.
